{"job":{"jobId":2422860,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":494,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Head of Strategic Projects","description":"\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Job description</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy, following a period of significant growth is in a period of consolidation around quality in its education, research and impact, with a number of strategically important projects underway which are closely-aligned with the broader King’s Vision 2029 agenda for change of the university as a whole ( <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"http://www.kcl.ac.uk/aboutkings/strategy/index.aspx\" rel=\"no-follow\">http://www.kcl.ac.uk/aboutkings/strategy/index.aspx</a>). </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">We aim to maintain an ‘innovation capability’ at the Faculty level to plan, shape and energise these projects, and others as they emerge. We are looking for an ambitious individual with excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills to work closely with the Executive Dean, Prof Linda McKie. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This role will suit a self-starter seeking an opportunity to work with the highest levels of the university, and someone who is interested in an accelerated career path to senior university management positions. The role will involve exposure to a wide range of projects, including strategy development and delivery, developing planning approaches and performance assessments, and ensuring we have high quality data for decision making. It will require someone who is a quick learner who is also able to build and develop strong relationships, and the ability to influence a wide variety of stakeholders. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Previous experience projects ranging from strategy development to performance improvements is an asset; the ability to assimilate quickly and adapt to the different needs of projects is a requirement of the role. The post holder will need to gain the confidence and trust of the academic and professional services leadership in the Faculty and wider university. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The post holder will be a proven Project Manager, with a history of effective change in complex environments and will be expected to work at pace, leading on multiple different initiatives with stretching timescales and scope. The post holder will be a polished communicator, verbally and in writing, and comfortable briefing senior leaders. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The role is mainly based at the Strand Campus of King’s College, though applicants should be prepared to work across the university and its campuses as required. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This post will be offered on a full-time, fixed term contract for 2 years from or as close to 1st April 2022.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> \n \n \n \n </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Key responsibilities</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>To scope, plan and manage a number of concurrent change projects, linked to the academic strategy of the Faculty.</li>\n<li>To lead on the development of new initiatives identified as priorities within the Faculty Business Plan.</li>\n<li>To identify and lead on projects that contribute to the continuous improvement of cross-faculty processes and governance.</li>\n<li>To work with a wide range of academic and professional services staff from across the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy and the wider university, as required, to deliver projects successfully.</li>\n<li>To prepare business cases for relatively complex new activities, taking ownership for and challenging assumptions, and relating the proposed case to institutional strategy, business needs and requirements.</li>\n<li>To act in support of relevant and agreed change and challenge the status quo constructively.</li>\n<li>To communicate plans, progress and issues on strategic projects to the Executive Dean of Faculty and a range of other senior stakeholders.</li>\n<li>To identify, raise and address risks and issues relating to strategic projects.</li>\n<li>To maintain an overview of the portfolio of projects being led by or with the significant involvement of the Executive Dean of Faculty, the status of each project and the pipeline of future projects.</li>\n<li>To support the Executive Dean of Faculty by collecting and analysing information and data and reviewing and summarising documents as required.</li>\n<li>To lead and participate in faculty, campus and college-wide fora as appropriate.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><em>The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.</em></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Skills, knowledge, and experience</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The postholder will deploy their extensive skills and experience to manage and deliver complex projects, against agreed timelines and budgets. Ideally experience in, but if not a detailed understanding of, the university sector will be essential, enabling the postholder to quickly tackle the associated complexities and navigate projects to their completion.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Essential criteria</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">1. A relevant first degree</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">2. A project management qualification</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">3. Ability to analyse and interpret complex documentation and data using, for example, Excel</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">4. Highly numerate and analytical, can collect and synthesise a variety of complex data sources to develop new insights and perspectives</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">5. Excellent independent research skills and ability to present results of research in different formats to a wide audience</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">6. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an excellent standard of English language; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, appropriate to the context</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">7. Ability to communicate confidently with and influence senior colleagues</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">8.
