Our group uses genetic screens and a range of molecular and cell biology techniques to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of DNA damage repair. With a specific focus on understanding how the DDR can be targeted alongside radiotherapy to improve therapy response and overcome resistance. \n \nWe are seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated research technician to join the Hewitt lab. You will work closely with other lab members and have the opportunity to acquire skills in a wide range techniques such as mammalian cell culture, live-cell immaging and whole genome CRISPR screens. \n \nThe Hewitt lab is open to considering candidates from a broad range of experience levels including recent graduates and more experienced researchers. Depending on skill and experience level, the chosen candidate may take on their own independent research project.\n \nYour research will take place at King’s College London School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences. As part of the City of London RadNet network between King’s, UCL, Bart’s and the Francis Crick institute you will have access to an extensive network of knowledge and state of the art technologies. \nHewitt lab has ongoing collaborations with partners in industry. Allowing lab members the valuable opportunity to gain insight into drug discovery and development processes.\n \nThis post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract for 3 years with possible extension. \nThis is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Key responsibilities</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct novel research as part of multidisciplinary research team. </li>\n<li>Alongside other lab members, share the administrative responsibility of ordering supplies and maintaining databases. </li>\n<li>Present research regularly in lab team meetings and seminars. </li>\n<li>Maintain accurate and up to date lab records. </li>\n<li>Share skills by training others and a willingness to work collaboratively. </li>\n<li>Willingness to learn new techniques through internal and external collaborations. </li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> \nThe above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post. \n \n<strong>Skills, knowledge, and experience <br/>\n <br/>\nEssential criteria </strong>\n \n1. BSc or MSc in Biological Sciences or related field. \n2. Experience of research, in a technical or scientific role. \n3. Ability to trouble shoot laboratory problems. \n4. Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently. \n5. Strong Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. \n6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. \n \n<strong>Desirable criteria</strong>\n \n1. Tissue/cell culture experience. \n2. Molecular biology experience PCR, cloning etc. \n3.
