{"job":{"jobId":2422899,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":1194,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Biokinetics and Sport Science Division","description":"\n\nFACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES \nDEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOLOGY \nBIOKINETICS AND SPORT SCIENCE DIVISION \nSCHOOL OF MEDICINE \nLECTURER / SENIOR LECTURER (ONE POST)\n\n\nIn pursuit of the ideals of excellence and diversity, the University of Pretoria wishes to invite applications for the following vacancy.\n\n\nThe University of Pretoria's commitment to quality makes us one of the top research Universities in the country and gives us a competitive advantage in international science and technology development.\n\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Teach undergraduate- and postgraduate courses with the emphasis on biomechanics;</li>\n<li>Play an active role as academic nationally and internationally;</li>\n<li>Conduct departmental- and academic-related activities and responsibilities;</li>\n<li>Be involved in clinical training of undergraduate and postgraduate students;</li>\n<li>Mentor and supervise postgraduate students;</li>\n<li>Conduct collaborative research in their research specialisation area;</li>\n<li>Participate in community engagement and service delivery;</li>\n<li>Comply and assist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa’s (HPCSA) directives and minimum standards</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:\n\n\nLecturer:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Master’s degree in Human Movement Science (Biomechanics and /or Sport Science and/ or Biokinetics) or equivalent;</li>\n<li>Minimum of two publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nSenior Lecturer:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>PhD in Human Movement Science (Biomechanics and /or Sport Science and/ or Biokinetics) or equivalent;</li>\n<li>Minimum of five publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals;</li>\n<li>Conference papers delivered;</li>\n<li>At least two postgraduate students supervised (completed);</li>\n<li>Minimum of three years’ experience in teaching;</li>\n<li>Course/block co-ordinator or equivalent;</li>\n<li>Experience in academic curriculum development and administration.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nREQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Competent in the use of biomechanical devices (such as force plates, motion capture and electromyography) and the processing, analysis and interpretation of associated data;</li>\n<li>Evidence of research, postgraduate supervision, teaching and/or practical application of biomechanics in sport science and biokinetics;</li>\n<li>Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Power-Point);</li>\n<li>Interpersonal- and mentoring skills;</li>\n<li>The ability to work independently and in a team.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:\n\n\nLecturer:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>One-year teaching/tutoring and research experience at undergraduate/postgraduate levels;</li>\n<li>At least two years’ experience working as a biomechanist, biokineticist or sport scientist;</li>\n<li>Some first author publications in peer-reviewed journals are recommended;</li>\n<li>Illustrate potential to become a competent lecturer at the undergraduate level;</li>\n<li>Illustrate potential to become an established researcher;</li>\n<li>To study further and to conduct research;</li>\n<li>Experience in interdisciplinary, collaborative research;</li>\n<li>Record of national and/or international teamwork.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nSenior Lecturer:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>At least five years’ practice experience as a biomechanist, biokineticist or sport scientist;</li>\n<li>Experience as supervisor of postgraduate students, preferably Masters level or higher;</li>\n<li>Teaching portfolio compliant with UP criteria;</li>\n<li>Community engagement recommended.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nThe annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
