{"job":{"jobId":2423038,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":577,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Lecturer in Cancer Biology","description":"\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Cancer Sciences</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Location</strong>: Southampton General Hospital\n<strong>Salary</strong>: £39,739 to £50,296 Per annum\nFull Time Permanent\n<strong>Closing Date: </strong>Sunday 06 March 2022\n<strong>Interview Date: </strong> To be confirmed\n<strong>Reference</strong>: 1689122CM</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">A fantastic opportunity presents itself for a postgraduate candidate with strong research, educational, and organisational skills to further develop their expertise in an innovative new role with the School of Cancer Sciences at the University of Southampton</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This role will involve two main areas of responsibility: (1) to develop and implement a research portfolio aligned to our Schools’ research strategy, and (2) to deliver and grow the Faculty’s teaching portfolio, that will include the development of a novel postgraduate taught programme in cancer immunology working with the existing education team to our School and Faculty.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Whilst we are interested in attracting excellent candidates from all areas of experimental cancer research, we are particularly interested in investing in the following research areas; 1) lymphoid malignancies, 2) the tumour microenvironment, 3) cancer immunotherapy, and 4) computational cancer research. The successful candidate will be supported by internationally recognised research leaders in all of these areas. The post holder will be expected to create and manage an independent, internationally recognised research programme and to obtain a portfolio of grant support to develop and sustain it. The successful candidate will be expected to integrate and/or complement the academic priorities of the School of Cancer Sciences and to facilitate collaborative links within the School, Faculty and University.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The educational aspect of the post will complement our Schools’ historical track record and excellence in Cancer Immunology and will align with the successful candidates’ research focus. In particular, the post holder will develop a taught MSc programme focusing on the numerous approaches in which cancers and the immune system can interact, and how cancer immunotherapeutics are developed and deployed. The successful candidate will join a very experienced education team within the Faculty of Medicine to deliver on this exciting initiative.
