As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>About the Role</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">South London Citizens (Citizens UK) has received funding to work with King’s to build teams of people in institutions (e.g. schools, faith groups) in Lambeth to become mental health hubs and campaign for improved mental health services, particularly for underrepresented communities. We know that mental health is a critical issue for Lambeth residents and having a real impact on young people’s education. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">To deliver this work, KCLWP are hiring a Community Organiser to work with partner schools, families and local organisations to develop mental health hubs in schools and to work jointly on the campaign to improve mental health provision. This newly created role will deliver key aspects of our Service strategy and our King’s Widening Participation (KCLWP) objectives. It will involve close collaborative work with Citizens UK organisers in south London and internally with academic and professional services colleagues. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to develop organising work and to use your skills within a university setting by working closely with local partners on a crucial issue affecting local communities and young people’s education. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">We encourage applications from candidates who have experience from both within and outside of the Higher Education sector where they can demonstrate the skills needed to succeed in this role.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This is currently a hybrid working role with both work from home and on campus. The role will be based in our department, on the Waterloo campus.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This post will be offered on a fixed term basis for an initial period of one year.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This is a full-time post, but we welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible work pattern within our necessary service operating hours of 10am – 4pm.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Key responsibilities</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Work with the various internal and external stakeholders to organise on the issue of mental health in Lambeth. </li>\n<li>Develop core teams in schools and support them to participate in the alliance and mental health campaigns, along with becoming mental health hubs. </li>\n<li>Establish working relationships with identified school and community leaders and move them into action, including as part of the wider alliance, taking the initiative to establish new relationships. </li>\n<li>Ensure that the work on mental health and education includes investigation, learning and recommendations relating to university progression for young people. </li>\n<li>Support member institutions in running their own listening campaigns. </li>\n<li>Develop the leadership and organising skills of staff and students at King’s and work with Citizens UK organisers to deliver regular training sessions, lunch and learns, masterclasses, house meetings. </li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><em>The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.</em></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Skills, knowledge, and experience</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Essential criteria</strong> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Skills & Experience</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role.
