It may be noted that English is the working language and the primary medium of instruction at UM.\n\n\nThe Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for the position of Head of Department of Government and Public Administration.\n\n\nDepartment of Government and Public Administration\n\n\nThe Department of Government and Public Administration offers some popular and rigorous programmes in political science and public administration, leading to Bachelor, Master and PhD/ doctoral degrees. The Department attracts and nurtures academics and students through excellence in research, teaching and learning, and knowledge exchange. The Department members actively engage in research with focus on political science, comparative politics, public administration and public policy, international relations, and studies of the greater China regions. He or she should also have leadership experience, be able to contribute to collaborative research and programme development in the Faculty and the University, and serve the community with innovation. The appointee will be at the rank of full professor or distinguished professor.\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A PhD degree in public administration or international relations;</li>\n<li>Record of distinguished scholarship and teaching excellence;</li>\n<li>Excellent leadership, interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills;</li>\n<li>Proven administrative experience in another university;</li>\n<li>Global outlook combined with knowledge of the education environment in the Greater China;</li>\n<li>Ability to command respect from both internal and external stakeholders;</li>\n<li>Demonstrable success in fostering external cooperation, knowledge transfer, and community relationship;</li>\n<li>Proficiency in English is required as it is the working language, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nThe selected candidate is expected to assume duty in 2022.\n\n\nRemuneration\n\n\nRemuneration will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
