This exciting new post will contribute to the excellent research profile of the Department while also engaging in teaching, leadership and pastoral support across our expanding portfolio of both in-person and online courses. This includes the BA Culture, Media & Creative Industries and three postgraduate programmes: Cultural & Creative Industries MA; Arts & Cultural Management MA, and Global Media Industries MA. At Senior Lecturer level the post-holder will also provide academic leadership in key areas of education, programme development and assessment.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Whilst building on existing research and teaching strengths, the new post will provide an exciting new point of reference for the Department’s emergent focus on art and public engagement. You will have a strong track-record of research that speaks to this thematic area in an exciting, engaging and distinctive way. This might include expertise in curating, public programming and/or audience development and engagement. Whilst we expect the post to focus on visual art, interest in other art forms will be welcomed too.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The positioning of the post explicitly identifies the importance of forging new connections with a variety of stakeholder groups, community, professional and public. This comes at an important time for King’s, with the recent announcement of a new 10-year strategic relationship with The Courtauld, and the on-going Strand pedestrianisation project (where CMCI is based). We aim for the post to develop further impactful research in relation to this area, which will complement existing strengths and respond to the Department’s research priorities including everyday creativity and cultural work. At Senior Lecturer level we would also expect the post-holder to lead on plans for further development of our Masters courses in collaboration with our partners.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Indicatively, the post will be able to teach and research on the role and scope of public art, art and community and its relationship with audience development, and the wider visual arts ecology including emergent issues in the global art market. Knowledge and research on these issues outside Europe and North America would be particularly welcome. The post-holder will lead on the new Level 6 module The Art World: Issues in Contemporary Art. They will also work with colleagues in CMCI to facilitate the Level 7 modules Museum Curating Now and Working in a Museum, which are delivered in partnership with the Tate. In addition, they will contribute to team-taught modules, such as Museums, Audiences and Communities (Level 5), Managing Arts and Culture, Culture Wars, Communicating and Writing about Culture (Level 6), and Analysing the Cultural and Creative Industries (Level 7).</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Culture, Media & Creative Industries or a closely related discipline, with an excellent knowledge and understanding of a field of expertise relating to art and public engagement. They will be a highly effective educator, with experience of both face-to-face and online teaching and assessment in Higher Education, a commitment to student learning and welfare, and an aptitude for working within an interdisciplinary framework. We also expect the post-holder to play a prominent role in supporting the Department’s further widening participation initiatives across all levels, including our Postgraduate Research students.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">We encourage applications from members of groups with protected characteristics that have been marginalized on any grounds enumerated under the Equality Act. Due to commence in July 2022.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Key responsibilities</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and deliver outstanding teaching in both face-to-face and online modes for BA and MA optional and compulsory modules, designing and delivering new online modules for virtual courses, where required </li>\n<li>Conduct excellent research including publishing peer reviewed articles in high impact journals and/or books and research monographs, generating grant income, public engagement, and building recognizable research expertise and esteem</li>\n<li>Provide high quality supervisory guidance for BA and MA level dissertations, as well as high quality supervision to PhD students</li>\n<li>Assess coursework and examinations as required</li>\n<li>Contribute to the welfare of students through the personal tutor system</li>\n<li>Fulfil administrative tasks as directed by the Head of Department</li>\n<li><strong>[<em>Senior Lecturer level]</em></strong> Provide academic leadership in key areas of education, programme development and assessment</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><em>The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.</em></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Skills, knowledge, and experience</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Essential criteria </strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">1. PhD awarded in Culture, Media & Creative Industries or a relevant interdisciplinary field </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">2. Excellent knowledge and understanding of a relevant field of expertise relating to art and public engagement </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">3. Clearly defined research interests and plans compatible with the research strategies of the Department, Faculty and College </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">4. Highly effective administrative and organisational skills, underpinned by excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">5. Experience of teaching relevant subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, with evidence of developing and delivering innovative and effective face-to-face and online teaching, and ability to engage and inspire students of diverse and international backgrounds </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">6.
