This is a 0.8FTE post that runs for 9 months and is open to flexible working patterns.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This project brings together a community of practice from a range of sectors, communities and geographies in order to better understand and evidence the correlation between place attachment (understood as the emotional bond between people and place) and the health of local cultural ecologies. We will speak directly to the need our research with partners has established for a set of co-produced evaluative metrics for understanding pride and place. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Working at the intersection of the Humanities and Social Sciences, the project will produce a new understanding of the complex roles that civic pride and place attachment play in local government regeneration strategies and complicate the assumed correlation between place attachment and the health of local cultural ecologies. The postdoc will be working within the Southampton Institute for Arts and Humanities which is located within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The Research Fellow's responsibilities relate to three work strands:</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Firstly, an initial period of desk research, supported by regular online and in-person meetings with lead partners, will allow them to work with the project team to understand how pride and place attachment are situated within existing policy, practice, evaluation and reporting strategies. They will also support and develop a wider community of practice.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Secondly, they will work closely with projects led by each of our lead partners: synthesising learnings and facilitate knowledge exchange regarding place-focused culture and heritage ‘on the ground’. They will observe local development group meetings such as LEP, BID & LCEPs as well as specific project development meetings.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Finally, they will work with the team to co-produce a strategy report including transferable learnings, policy recommendations and resources for effective cross-sector approaches to civic pride and place attachment policy, practice and evaluation.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Applications will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.
