The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD/habilitation thesis).</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><b>Tasks:</b> The work includes research activities in the field of haptic sensing devices. The primary objective is divided into two parts. The first part is the fabrication and characterization of flexible tactile sensors and the second part is the integration of a signal conditioning circuit for sensor applications. During the utilization of these flexible sensors, their multifunctionality will be stressed upon. The electromechanical properties of the sensors will be analyzed and appropriate optimizations will be done in terms of the type and amount of flexible nanomaterials and polymers used to fabricate them. The sensors will be deployed as e-textiles and polymeric strain sensors to detect human motion patterns. The suitability of the materials selected to fabricate the sensors will be investigated in terms of their intrinsic parameters such as flexibility, bendability, stability, reproducibility and operating range. The output signals of the prototypes will be evaluated using perceptually optimized post-processing algorithms. The signal processing and wireless communication of the sensed signal will be studied for developing poin-of-care (PoC) devices. The results will be patented and published in the form of journal articles and conference proceedings as well as in books and monographs.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><b>Requirements:</b> above average university degree in electrical engineering, material science or other related fields and, if applicable, a PhD degree; expertise in the field of haptics, sensors, mechatronics, flexible sensing technology and nanotechnology; high motivation and autonomous and scientific working style; open-mindedness for interdisciplinary collaboration and very good English skills. Candidates who can communicate in both English and German language fluently are preferred.
