{"job":{"jobId":2423759,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":494,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Digital Culture and Creative Computing","description":"\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Job description</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The Department of Digital Humanities is seeking to make the appointment of a L <em>ecturer or Senior Lecturer in Digital Culture and Creative Computing (Education and Research).</em> The post will make a central contribution to the culture and profile of the department, inspiring new developments in research and teaching in all areas related to the analysis of cultural and social data and creative computing. We are looking for a range of expertise to support our fast-expanding Master programmes in Big Data, Digital Culture, Digital Economy and Digital Asset and Media Management as well as our BA in Digital Media and Culture. The post holder will have a sound knowledge of the theories and practices of computing and quantitative analysis in the humanities and/or social sciences. We welcome colleagues with experience in areas such as, but not limited to, data analytics and quantitative methods, artificial intelligence, creative computing, digital methods, the study of social media, and the exploration of historical, creative or artistic data. Experience of at least one programming language such as R or Python and the ability to teach it (or them) at beginner and intermediate level is an advantage. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline for the post. They will be an inspiring practitioner and researcher, and a skilled educator with experience of both face-to-face and online teaching and assessment in Higher Education. They can demonstrate a commitment to student learning and welfare, and an aptitude for working within an interdisciplinary framework. In keeping with the department’s strategic priorities of inclusivity, sustainability, care, and reflexivity, applicants will be expected to demonstrate a deep commitment to making critical and positive interventions in society. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The position will build on the Department’s existing research strengths. As well as developing research and informing dissertations and research projects across the curricula, the successful post-holder will contribute to new and emerging Faculty/College-wide initiatives in the area. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Candidates will contribute to the life and reputation of the Department, the Faculty, and the College through their research and by taking on an appropriate academic leadership role, contributing to internal networks and collaborations, taking part in external national and international activities, and undertaking industry and public engagement where appropriate. PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification or work experience in a relevant sector </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">2. An in-depth understanding of the field of data analysis, digital culture and creative computing and experience of current research and teaching in these areas </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">3. Excellent research in the area of expertise demonstrated by high quality publications </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">4. Clearly defined research interests and plans compatible with the research strategies of the Department, Faculty and College </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">5. Effective administrative and organisational skills, underpinned by excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">6. Experience of teaching relevant subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, with evidence of developing and delivering innovative and effective face-to-face and online teaching and ability to engage and inspire students of diverse and international backgrounds </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">7.
