{"job":{"jobId":2448844,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":885,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Chair Professor / Professor of Practice / Professor / Associate Professor","description":"\n\nSystem Health Lab\n\n\nChair Professor/Professor of Practice/Professor/Associate Professor (6 posts) (PR0407/19-20)\n\n\nOverview\n\n\nHong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), ranked 281 globally in the QS World University Rankings (QSWUR2023) and top 62 in THE Asia University Rankings (2021), has defined six interdisciplinary research laboratories to enable academics from different backgrounds to work together on common sets of problems and to contribute to the positioning of this dynamic and globally oriented University as a research-led liberal arts institution of worldwide significance.\n\n\nDetails of the six interdisciplinary research labs can be found on the HKBU Research website at: https://research.hkbu.edu.hk/organisational-structure/interdisciplinary-research-labs\n\n\nOne of the six new Labs, the System Health Lab, unites HKBU’s research strength in the basic disciplines such as mathematics, physics, and biology, together with the applied disciplines like medicine, geography, social sciences and communications, to explore the behavioral and wellbeing functioning mechanisms of complex systems including life, environment, human society and internet-based modern media. This cross-disciplinary research is the first of its kind in China, with great impact on communities. Not only will the lab fully spur the University’s development of academic and research excellence in the basic disciplines, but it will also ensure HKBU achieves an unparalleled position in the field of complex systems locally and nationally. \n\n\nDetails of the posts\n\n\nTo build this world leading interdisciplinary research Lab, we are recruiting six first-class scholars to push the research envelope with world-class research achievement in the areas of public/population health, social wellbeing, system medicine, etc.  The Systems Health Lab is particularly interested in talents in the following areas:\n\n\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Complex Systems including biological systems, social systems and internet systems </li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Methodology for system health research ranging from system dynamics to data analysis  </li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Data driven system health research such as environmental epidemiology and network dynamics </li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Policy development in system wellbeing ranging from food security, planetary and population health, resilience of the urban environment and infrastructure, and the trust worthiness of the internet </li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mathematical and statistical studies and numerical algorithm developments related to complex systems, health systems, diffusion processes and data analytics </li>\n</ol>\n\n\nColleagues recruited will have access to seed money and appropriate research facilities/support, as well as a generous array of competitive research funding from Hong Kong’s Research Grants Council, the Innovation and Technology Commission, and other external sources.\n\n\nInterested candidates should have relevant expertise, a proven research record, and the readiness to contribute to an interdisciplinary research team.  They should be talented, motivated and committed to the Lab to make it a sustainable research hub.\n\n\nThe above positions are on tenure-track with initial appointment on three-year fixed-term contracts.  Re-appointments thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.  Tenured appointments, if applicable, are expected to be attained within six years.  Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.\n\n\nProspective applicants who
