{"job":{"jobId":2454227,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":5787,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Lecturer in Protein Therapeutics","description":"\n\nJob Description\n\n\nThe School of Pharmacy at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Lecturer in Protein Therapeutics.\n\n\nResearch activity within the School of Pharmacy is organised into five key themes, reflecting our research strengths: \n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Nanomedicine and Biotherapeutics</li>\n<li>Pharmaceutical Materials Science and Formulation</li>\n<li>Drug Delivery and Biomaterials</li>\n<li>Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance</li>\n<li>Healthcare Delivery and Medicines Optimisation.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nThese themes allow us to lead on addressing societal challenges; be responsive to the UN Sustainable Development Goals; map to the on-going priorities of major funders and ensure a strong contribution to both AMIC and iREACH as part of the Belfast Region City Deal.\n\n\nOver the course of the next 3 years, the strategic ambitions of the School of Pharmacy will ensure we continue to achieve excellence in research. These include the establishment of the Centre for Advanced Technologies in Healthcare (CATcH).\n\n\nAs we advance these ambitions, we now see the need to recruit an academic staff member with expertise in Protein Therapeutics. This area continues to grow in importance in the healthcare sector, where high specificity, low immunogenicity, and use across a wide variety of diseases (e.g., cancer, diabetes, and multiple sclerosis) provide significant potential. Moreover, the substantial market for therapeutic proteins is anticipated to more than double this decade.\n\n\nThe School of Pharmacy has existing expertise in large molecule (biologics) research, however there is a distinct need to complement expertise in this exciting new area to ensure that we are aligned to ongoing broader trends in the pharmaceutical industry, the increasing importance of biological therapeutics and progress of translational research into drug products.\n\n\nThe School welcomes applicants from diverse academic backgrounds and encourages new thematic areas of collaboration and funding which build upon existing areas of strength.\n\n\nIn line with our strategy, we are seeking to recruit a member of staff to make a significant contribution to the development of research in protein therapeutics.\n\n\nThe successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have: \n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Honours degree or equivalent in biological or pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy or a closely related discipline.</li>\n<li>PhD or equivalent in an area relevant to the job purpose.</li>\n<li>High academic standing with a reputation in research in a relevant field since obtaining PhD.</li>\n<li>Recent, relevant publications in peer reviewed/refereed journals that are recognised internationally as being high quality, commensurate with experience.</li>\n<li>Distinctive research profile in protein therapeutics. Experience of relevant techniques in the field such as pegylation, bioconjugation, stimuli-response polymers for protein-polymer therapeutics, and up-to-date on emerging trends.</li>\n<li>Experience of developing research methodologies, models, approaches and techniques.</li>\n<li>Experience of presentations at national and international meetings and conferences.</li>\n<li>Must be prepared to assist with delivery at QUB external campuses from time to time, for example, in China Queen’s College.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nPlease note the above are not an exhaustive list.  For further information about the role including the essential and desirable criteria, please click on the Candidate Information link below.\n\n\nThe School of Pharmacy is part of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences at Queen’s.
