The successful applicant is expected to develop process schemes to reduce energy cost of highly energy intensive industrial-scale separations. Some knowledge of AI focused on data science and analytics, machine learning, and scientific discovery are required. Application areas may include process control and intensification, sustainable energy, advanced catalyst platforms, materials discovery, advanced separation processes, predictive maintenance, and machine learning for integration of operational and informational technologies.\n\n\nThe ChemE program plays a pivotal role in supporting KAUST strategic initiatives: artificial intelligence, climate and livability, smart health and cybersecurity. Applications that would strengthen our footprint in one or more of these initiatives will be strongly considered.\n\n\nFaculty in the ChemE program conducts research on a broad range of chemical engineering topics addressing fundamental questions relating to polymer science, thermodynamics, reaction engineering, mass transport in liquid and gas phases, surface science, and separation science and technology. \n\n\nThree KAUST research centers are associated with ChemE: Advanced Membranes and Porous Materials Center (<a data-mz=\"\" href=\"http://ampm.kaust.edu.sa\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">http://ampm.kaust.edu.sa</a>), KAUST Catalysis Center (<a data-mz=\"\" href=\"http://kcc.kaust.edu.sa\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">http://kcc.kaust.edu.sa</a>), and the Clean Combustion Research Center (<a data-mz=\"\" href=\"http://ccrc.kaust.edu.sa\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">http://ccrc.kaust.edu.sa</a>).\n\n\nQualifications\n\n\nA relevant Ph.D. degree. Proven track record in managing a research group as well as publishing high-impact papers.\n\n\nTeaching and service responsibilities\n\n\nCommitment to high-quality teaching at the graduate level, including two courses per academic year. Active service to KAUST on all aspects of academic life.  \n\n\nResearch Responsibilities\n\n\nThe University offers access to multiple sources of research funding to its Principal Investigators.
