With a team of around 27 full-time academic staff, our focus areas are professional communication and applied language studies, and we provide teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Priority will be given to applicants with a demonstrated record of research in Workplace Communication, English for Specific or Occupational Purposes, and Business Discourse across various methodologies especially ethnographic or case study research and use of corpora.\n\n\nDuties\n\n\nThe appointee will be required to:\n\n\n(a)   conduct research as the main duty and actively pursue external research grants, such as General Research Fund, as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator;  \n\n\n(b)   provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level;  \n\n\n(c)   contribute to departmental service;and  \n\n\n(d)   perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.\n\n\nQualifications  \n\n\nApplicants should:\n\n\n(a)   have a doctoral degree in Media and Communication, Applied Linguistics,or a related discipline;  \n\n\n(b)   have demonstrated promise of a high level of creative ability in research and teaching in some subdivisions of their field;  \n\n\n(c)   be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills; and  \n\n\n(d)   be highly proficient in written and spoken English.\n\n\nStrong preference will be given to those with experience of and interest in researching professional communication domains, including but not limited to areas of Aviation English, Hotel and Tourism Communication, etc.\n\n\nConditions of Service\n\n\nA highly competitive package including a medical benefits plan and a gratuity payable upon completion of the term which is normally for three years initially, with possibility of extension for another three years.\n\n\nApplication\n\n\nPlease submit an application through PolyU’s career website (<a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://jobs.polyu.edu.hk/rap\" rel=\"no-follow\">https://jobs.polyu.edu.hk/rap</a>).Consideration of applications will commence on 26 November 2022 until the position is filled.
