This is a senior role in the SGA and an exciting opportunity for someone looking to further their career in Higher Education. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The post holder will oversee a suite of Postgraduate taught and research programmes, managing the educational support service and operational provision on behalf of the departments of Geography, Global Health & Social Medicine, and International Development. The Programmes Manager (PG) will work as part of a student-facing team ensuring high quality, effective support for the School’s postgraduate teaching and teaching related activities. You will lead, develop and effectively manage the School’s PG team, providing day to day line management, working with team members on setting objectives and meeting those in a timely fashion. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This senior role is key in promoting best educational practice across the departments within the School, influencing both PS staff and academics to achieve excellence in provision of taught and research programmes. You will advise a team of Senior Programme Officers and Programme Officers on academic quality assurance requirements, liaising with Faculty and other stakeholders, maintaining up to date knowledge of programme and College regulations, providing accurate guidance to colleagues and students as required and ensuring all quality assurance processes are followed. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">You will contribute to and work on harmonisation of processes and procedures within the PG team and across the whole Education team in collaboration with other School Programme Managers and the School Education Manager, forming an integral part of the senior education leadership team. You will also contribute to the School’s strategic planning, supporting and implementing enhancement projects including new systems, processes and programme development. Address day to day and medium-term issues and flag longer term issues to relevant colleagues </li>\n<li>Support Senior Programme Officers and Programme Officers in ensuring key activities, such as assessment and progression processes are completed in accordance with university timeframes and policies and to liaise and engage with stakeholders and programme boards as required </li>\n<li>Represent the School’s interest in university wide service improvement projects, engaging with relevant stakeholders, groups and committees across the university to influence change. Working closely with School Education Manager to develop and implement service improvements </li>\n<li>Work flexibly as part of a team, supporting others in times of high-volume activity, and reporting on resource issues to the School Education Manager in a timely fashion. Organising new starter inductions, covering staff absence and deputising for the School Education Manager as and when required </li>\n<li>Undertake local line-management life-cycle processes, from recruitment, through induction, probation, performance management, enabling development and training activities and completing exit processes </li>\n<li>Contribute to and inform the development of student systems, including online learning platforms (KEATS), student databases (SITS) and support improvements to and implementation of other systems within the university </li>\n<li>Ensure that quality assurance requirements and, where required, accreditations requirements are met for all courses and assist academics in use of OPAMA/curriculum management system </li>\n<li>Manage and assist with educational resource allocation including timetabling, teaching planning and Graduate Teaching Assistants allocations </li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><em>The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.</em> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Skills, knowledge, and experience </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Essential criteria </strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">1. Educated to degree level or equivalent, and substantial experience gained in a Higher Education environment; </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">2. Demonstrable experience of managing a team of staff, including experience of managing change, setting standards, motivating staff and performance management, developing and maintaining a positive, proactive culture of continual review and development and ability to develop high performing teams; </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">3. Proven excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and delegate tasks appropriately in order to work towards and meet tight deadlines; </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">4. Proven ability to communicate at all levels to a diverse group including the ability to draft documents and translate complex regulations, processes, and information to a wide audience; </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">5. Experience in developing and implementing effective policies and procedures; </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">6. Excellent IT skills (Office suite) along with experience in the use of databases and student records systems (such as SITS) to provide management information data to a high level of detail and accuracy; </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">7. Strong numeracy skills and ability to extract, analyse and present complex numerical data; </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">8. Excellent understanding and engagement with Technology Enhanced Learning and its various platforms and uses; </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">9. A proactive approach, working independently and exercising professional judgement; </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">10.
