The Senior Leadership Team report directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) with the following portfolios: Strategy and Change; Operations; Information Systems, and Cyber Security. CIS work with departments across the university to provide academic, teaching and administrative services that underpin the day-to-day activities of the whole organisation. Details of the Digital Strategy and ongoing work can be found at Digital Strategy - Durham University</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">CIS is a friendly, but demanding department, where much is expected and can be achieved by competent, self-motivated individuals who are demonstrable in their team work ability. The department works in a hybrid capacity depending on the job role and individual personal requirements.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Data Migration is a critical workstream within a number of DU technology programmes. Data is required from extremely old legacy systems and will have to deal with missing critical data that will need to be sourced from suppliers direct.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The IS Specialist (Data Migration) will be part of an allocated CIS project team and will be responsible for undertaking activities across an assigned project to ensure an effective, efficient and joined up approach to data migration activities. They will work closely with the IS Senior Manager (Data Migration) and with other CIS project team members, in the definition of the target data model. They will assist with defining the data migration plan for each solution, working with legacy systems and new systems to design and create the mechanism to extract, cleanse, transform, enrich, load and validate all required data for the successful implementation and operation of the new solutions. They will:</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>co-ordinate and deliver all data migration activities and will create and operate the migration tools as necessary;</li>\n<li>arrange and undertake data cleansing and enrichment of data;</li>\n<li>arrange and undertake the testing of populated data to assess and assure quality and accuracy of populated data;</li>\n<li>correct inaccurate and poor quality data</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Though the role will be based within CIS, the IS Specialist (Data Migration) will be required to work proactively with colleagues across a number of DU academic and professional services departments.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">It can be expected that issues will be found with data migration and these will need turning around “in hours not days”. These issues will need resolution working across CIS and the wider organisation, (for example, finance, procurement, etc) or with 3rd parties (such as system integration partners).
