{"job":{"jobId":2461165,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":483,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Research Fellow, Maritime Economics","description":"\n\nJob Description\n\n\nThe Centre for Maritime Studies (CMS) is a research institute at the National University of Singapore specialising in maritime affairs.  We are looking for researchers to join a multi-disciplinary team carrying out research projects on a range of maritime and shipping issues that concern Singapore and the region. The Centre is looking to recruit a post-doctoral fellow specialising in international trade and shipping. The appointed staff will operate under the responsibility of the Centre’s Head and work closely with all members across each of the Centre’s divisions. Candidates are expected to be highly familiar with economics, international shipping, trade and policies, have had formal training in a closely related area, and understand Singapore’s economic system, and local work experience is desirable.\n\n\nJob Scope\n\n\nTo support research in the area of maritime technology and management reviews, roadmaps, opinion papers, periodicals, and prototypes focusing on the application of digital efficiency (data analytics, machine learning, etc.) for:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Energy and sustainable ports and shipping;</li>\n<li>Autonomous vessels; and</li>\n<li>Maritime human resource management, safety, and training.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nBy creating models and solutions to manage change and disruption to global trade, logistics, and supply chain leveraging digitalisation 4.0 and Singapore’s maritime transhipment, knowledge, and innovation hub position, experience, and expertise. Intensive field research and consultation with the industry professionals and community via focus groups/seminars will be required\n\n\nQualifications and Requirement\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Possess a PhD degree in economics, international trade, shipping, finance, or other related quantitative research fields, with specific application to maritime shipping issues.</li>\n<li>At least two years of experience in one of the above fields</li>\n<li>Applicants should have demonstrated experience using computable general equilibrium modelling techniques and interest and desire to deepen their understanding of the economics of international trade and shipping and related market and policy issues.</li>\n<li>Relevant working and practical experience in industry or government agencies in international trade and shipping would be highly valuable.</li>\n<li>Ideally, this is within Singapore, or the South East Asia region, given the importance of these regions to work undertaken within CMS; applicants with no regional work experience will still be given full consideration.</li>\n<li>Relevant research experience in the ASEAN region would be an advantage.</li>\n<li>A strong written and oral command of the English language is essential. Secondary languages are desirable.</li>\n<li>The appointed individual must be able to work independently and as part of a team.</li>\n<li>Published in reputable economics journals, have papers under review or papers ready for submission</li>\n<li>Evidence of a robust or emerging citation profile is highly desirable</li>\n<li>Evidence of previous project leadership is a strong advantage.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nCovid-19 Message\n\n\nAt NUS, the health and safety of our staff and students are one of our utmost priorities, and COVID-vaccination supports our commitment to ensure the safety of our community and to make NUS as safe and welcoming as possible.
