{"job":{"jobId":2485983,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":518,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Economics (Applied Behavioural Economics)","description":"\n\n<ul>\n<li>Full time, 2-year fixed term (with the possibility of extension subject to funding and performance)</li>\n<li>Join a collaborative and supportive network of internationally renowned academics</li>\n<li>Level A/B, Base Salary $103,840 - $117,425 + 17% superannuation</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nAbout the opportunity\n\n\nThe <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://www.sydney.edu.au/arts/\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences</a> and the <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://www.sydney.edu.au/medicine-health/\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">Faculty of Medicine and Health</a> are partners in an exciting new research initiative -- the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://lifecoursecentre.org.au/\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">Life Course Centre</a> - which will identify the pathways through which social and economic disadvantage are perpetuated over the life course, within communities, and across generations. The Life Course Centre is comprised of an inter-disciplinary team of renowned social scientists based at four Australian universities, NGOs, government departments, and eminent international research affiliates.\n\n\nThis position is based in the <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://www.sydney.edu.au/arts/schools/school-of-economics.html\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">School of Economics </a>within Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney, in the research program on the cognitive science of disadvantage which encompasses a broad range of issues in neuroeconomics, behavioural economics and cognitive psychology including mental health, child health and development; education; sleep disorders; youths and risky behaviour. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Deborah Cobb-Clark on the research agenda exploring the role of personality traits (e.g. locus of control, self-control) and economic preferences (e.g. risk attitudes) in underpinning social and economic wellbeing.\n\n\nAbout you\n\n\nAs the successful candidate, you will work with Professor Cobb-Clark as well as colleagues in the School of Economics and elsewhere within the Centre to provide leadership and foster excellence in research, and further the goals of the Centre. You will be an accomplished researcher with an established track record in research in one or more of the following fields: behavioural economics; applied microeconomics; labour economics; health economics; education economics; or family economics.\n\n\nYou will have:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>completed a PhD in Economics</li>\n<li>evidence of a strong research interest in behavioural economics generally, and the role of personality traits and economic preferences in economic decision making in particular</li>\n<li>evidence of the ability to conduct independent economic research and assume responsibility for the development and completion of research papers</li>\n<li>demonstrated ability to work as part of a research team, and work with other members of staff to meet the aims and deadlines of a project</li>\n<li>a track record in research and writing and the potential to develop further research expertise through various projects.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nTo keep our community safe, please be aware of our <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://www.sydney.edu.au/covid-19/health-safety/keeping-our-campus-covid-safe.html\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">COVID safety precautions</a> which form our conditions of entry for all staff, students and visitors coming to campus.\n\n\nPre-employment checks\n\n\nYour employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University.
