AI has huge promise in healthcare and we seek to be at the forefront of utilising genomics and AI for patient benefit. The post will be based at the University of Southampton, UK and further provides the opportunity to work on projects resulting in direct clinical benefit for patients with long-term conditions.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">You will be working with Dr. Jagmohan Chauhan (ECS) and collaborators in Medicine - Professor Sarah Ennis and Dr James Ashton, Chemistry and Biological Sciences. You will also get an opportunity to collaborate with Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard, University of Bristol and TopMD. This positions is open to all- internationally.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">As part of your role, you will develop new machine learning approaches applied to genomic data to achieve dimensionality reduction, integrate complex variants and embrace the value of long read sequencing. You will develop, test and validate AI-classification tools that integrate rich genomic data with deep, longitudinal endophenotyping to explain specific clinical outcomes. <strong>Most importantly, YOU will pioneer methods that will help dissolve the discipline specific barriers between genomicists and computer scientists and transform the future of healthcare. </strong>You will write and submit academic papers, project deliverables, and travel to academic conferences/project meetings to present your work and represent the team. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">You need to have a PhD* in Computer Science - Data science/ML or related disciplines – Statistics/Maths, excellent programming skills, knowledge of ML frameworks and experience of analysing complex datasets. Expertise in unix scripting/R; experience of processing and analysing of human genetic, phenotype data and publications in top conferences/journals will be an advantage.
