This includes both single-junction wafer-based silicon solar cells as well as perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells. Full-size n-type Cz silicon wafers are used as substrates and processed into either monofacial or bifacial solar cells. Selected research topics of the cluster include doped semiconductors (e.g. a-Si, poly-Si), tandem solar cell development, silicon bulk passivation, ultra-thin layers and new materials for passivated contacts, alternative doping methods (e.g. doped thin films), laser processing and advanced metallisation. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>We are looking for a motivated candidate with hands-on experience with solar cell fabrication of large-area (>400 cm2), 2-terminal (2T) silicon/perovskite solar cells and silicon solar cells.</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Fabrication of large-area high-efficiency (> 30%) perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells.</li>\n<li>Research focusing on the following:\n\t<ul>\n<li>Fabricate high-efficiency silicon heterojunction, passivated contact and/or perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells</li>\n<li>Perform design-of-experiments (DOE) to obtain optimised processes for the deposition of transport layers, perovskite absorber layers, transparent conductive oxides (TCOs) and other function layers required for perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells.</li>\n<li>Conduct process development on PVD, sputtering, ALD, slot-die and/or other relevant equipment</li>\n<li>Develop and/or optimize functional layers for optimal optics, crystal growth, surface passivation and low resistive contacts</li>\n<li>Conduct compositional, electronic, optical and other characterization as necessary for process control and process optimization</li>\n<li>Effectively contribute to project team(s) for solar cell efficiency improvements</li>\n<li>Effectively plan & communicate ideas and results to the team and assist in developing new processes and improving existing processes</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Carry out processes for high-efficiency perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells involving operation of tools such as: PVD, ALD, sputtering, evaporation, slot-die coating, spin-coating, wet chemical baths, PECVD, tube furnaces, laser tools, screen-printing, annealing stations and curing/firing furnaces.</li>\n<li>Conduct and improve metrology methods for high-efficiency solar cells and thin films including: spectroscopic ellipsometry, contact resistivity, Hall, current-voltage (I-V) testing, quantum efficiency (QE), time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL), photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), x-ray diffraction (XRD), x-ray fluorescence (XRF), mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS), electron microscopy (SEM/TEM/FIB), contact potential, photo-electron spectroscopy (PESA, UPS, XPS) and other relevant characterization methods. </li>\n<li>Assist the project team with processing and characterisation services for various industry-funded and public-funded projects.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><b>Requirements</b></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Materials Sciences with specialization in Photovoltaics or Microelectronics. Specialization in perovskite solar cells is highly preferred.</li>\n<li>Minimum 3 years of experience in perovskite solar cell fabrication and metrology or other relevant experience with silicon and/or perovskite device fabrication.</li>\n<li>Researchers with prior experience on development of large-area (6” or larger) processing equipment for perovskites will be preferred.
