{"job":{"jobId":2488440,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":483,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Research Fellow, Biological Sciences","description":"\n\nJob Description\n\n\nThe Neuron Signaling Laboratory (<a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://neuronsignalinglab.org\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">https://neuronsignalinglab.org</a>) led by Siew Cheng PHUA is a young research group located at the Centre for Bioimaging Sciences in the National University of Singapore. Research projects in our laboratory are primarily driven by the curiosity to understand how our experiences transform into learning and memory. Our current focus is on illuminating the functional roles of the neuronal cilium and nucleus in reward and fear learning, by applying advanced molecular and imaging approaches in vitro and in vivo. In parallel, we are doing collaborative work in systems neuroscience to discover fundamental learning mechanisms in the brain using machine learning. By illuminating the cell biology in behaving brain, we hope to gain deeper knowledge of how cognitive processes take form &amp; seek for better ways to improve learning in normal &amp; pathological states.\n\n\nWe are actively seeking 1-2 Postdoctoral Fellows to join us in two exciting projects:\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Investigating the function of primary cilia in neuronal plasticity and associative memory formation in the striatum</li>\n<li>Investigating the nuclear role of cell cycle regulators in fear memory formation in the amygdala-hippocampal circuit</li>\n</ol>\n\n\nQualifications\n\n\nQualifications:\n\n\nThe candidate should hold or is going to obtain a PhD in one of the disciplines below:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Neurobiology,</li>\n<li>Cell and molecular biology,</li>\n<li>Biological engineering, or related fields.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nSkills:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Strong motivation and leadership in pursuing challenging scientific questions</li>\n<li>An ability to work well with interdisciplinary colleagues </li>\n<li>Experience in mentoring and training junior researchers</li>\n<li>Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills</li>\n<li>Good time and resource management skills</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nExperience: \n\n\nKnowledge and mastery in 3 or more of the skillsets below:\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Molecular cloning design (over-expression, CRISPR, shRNA) and viral vector production (lentivirus, AAV)</li>\n<li>Cell and tissue proximity labelling, protein work, and mass spectrometry </li>\n<li>Primary neuron and organotypic brain slice culture</li>\n<li>Confocal bioimaging and quantitative image analysis</li>\n<li>Electrophysiological studies of neuron and brain plasticity</li>\n<li>Rodent stereotaxic surgeries </li>\n<li>fiber photometry or microendoscope imaging </li>\n<li>Rodent behavior experiment design, especially pertaining to reward and fear learning</li>\n</ol>\n\n\nCandidates should email (i) a description of research interests, (ii) a CV and (iii) the names of 3 references to Dr. Phua at <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"mailto:sc.phua@nus.edu.sg\" rel=\"no-follow\">sc.phua@nus.edu.sg</a>.
