Located at the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, Camperdown Campus and a member of the Australian Centre for Microscopy &amp; Microanalysis</li>\n<li>Opportunity to work closely with Professor Simon Ringer to drive research in additive manufacturing</li>\n<li>Base Salary Academic Level B or Level C, $113K - $159K + 17% superannuation </li>\n</ul>\n\n\nAbout the opportunity\n\n\nProfessor Simon Ringer heads a leading research group in the field of materials engineering. The general theme of the team's research is to advance frontiers of the relationships between the processing of materials, their microstructure and their engineering performance. A particular focus is in additive manufacturing (AM). Specifically, the AM processing interests span powder bed fusion and solid-state technologies; microstructurally, the ambition is to exert multi-scale control from the macro to the mm to the nm and through to the atomic-scale, as characterised via advanced microscopy; and the interest in property space spans the mechanical, electrical and magnetic. More information on Professor Ringer's contributions to the understanding of solute clustering, precipitation, segregation and phase transformations across the alloys of aluminium, magnesium, titanium, nickel and iron (steels), and high entropy alloys is available <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://www.sydney.edu.au/research/our-researchers/academic-staff/simon-ringer.html\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">here.</a> An opportunity for a research focussed academic is now available to work with Professor Ringer on challenges across the coupling between AM processes, microstructure and properties. This is an attractive opportunity for researchers interested in the fundamentals underpinning the materials engineering critical to technologies related to space, aerospace, electrification and new energy platforms, and defence platforms.\n\n\nAbout you\n\n\nThe University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity.
