The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is a leading department for microbiology, infectious diseases and immunology education and research, focusing on translational outcomes (<a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/mbio/\" rel=\"no-follow\">https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/mbio/</a>). Appointments will be made on a yearly contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension, depending on performance and outcomes.\n\n\nPurpose of the post\n\n\nThe Research Assistant will be responsible for supporting several exciting research projects on the cellular, immunological and pathological impact of protistan parasites on the gut microbiome as part of a larger European Cooperation in Science and Technology (EU-COST) initiative involving several investigators from an existing EU network of parasitologists. The RA will work closely with the Principal Investigator and EU-COST collaborators to ensure the successful execution of the project and achievement of milestones. The RA will also be involved in organizing workshops and in general lab management, including grants management and procurement.\n\n\nMain Duties and Responsibilities\n\n\nThe Research Assistant will be supporting interdisciplinary research with collaborators with strong microbiome, metabolomic and cell biology expertise, and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator (PI). The RA will be able to:\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Support several EU-COST-related projects;</li>\n<li>Provide administrative and secretarial support to the project, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication and updates with other members of the research team;</li>\n<li>Perform experiments, analyze data, write up and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals;</li>\n<li>Organize workshops on parasite biology for EU-COST members;</li>\n<li>Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;</li>\n<li>Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.</li>\n</ol>\n\n\nQualifications\n\n\nThe applicant should:\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Have a good BSc (Hons) in Life Sciences or related disciplines;</li>\n<li>experience in in vitro co-culture experiments, cell and molecular biology methods, flow cytometry assays, laboratory model work;</li>\n<li>be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail;</li>\n</ol>\n\n\nRemuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
