This role includes teaching and program development in a leading Jazz and Improvisation program with a vibrant student community.  This is a Teaching Specialist position, with potential for research involvement for exceptional candidates.\n\n\nYour responsibilities will include:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare and deliver Jazz and Improvisation course content, including possible contributions to Breadth subjects, subject coordination, and administrative tasks.</li>\n<li>Manage and assess student work, including performance assessments and auditions, and provide effective consultation with students and colleagues</li>\n<li>Engage with external partnerships to support workshops, recordings, and performances, and contribute to administrative tasks to support the program</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nWho We Are Looking For\n\n\nWe are seeking an individual with demonstrated teaching expertise in aural skills, advanced harmonic devices, songwriting, and ensemble direction. This candidate should have a proven ability to motivate and inspire students, organise music performance opportunities, and effectively collaborate with staff and students in the Jazz and Improvisation program. They should be committed to upholding the program's integrity, and they should stay updated on developments in improvised music to enhance the student experience and program reputation.\n\n\nYou will also have:\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A postgraduate degree in a relevant aspect of Jazz and Improvisation practice (a doctorate is preferred, completed or in progress)</li>\n<li>Extensive professional performance experience, demonstrated expertise and public profile, and contemporary vision in the performance and development of improvised music</li>\n<li>Experience and demonstrated ability in teaching and coordinating relevant performance and lecture-based subjects at the undergraduate level, and preferably also in working with graduate students</li>\n<li>Connections in the Australian creative music community</li>\n</ul>\n\n\nFor further information regarding responsibilities and requirements, please refer to the attached PD.\n\n\nThis position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check to ensure the University provides a safe environment for everyone.\n\n\nPlease note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
