Accordingly, we welcome all applicants who would like to commit themselves, their achievements and productivity to the success of the whole institution.\n\n\nAt the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering the Institute of Natural Materials Technology invites applications for the\n\n\nChair (W3) of Wood Technology and wood-based Bioeconomy\n\n\nto be filled on October 1, 2025.\n\n\nThe focus of the chair to be filled is on the field of sustainable materials development and processing, especially from an engineering perspective. The focus of research and teaching is on biomaterials based on lignocellulose and other natural fibers, including their recycling in a cascaded circular economy. In addition to relevant topics on the design and production of differently structured materials, technological aspects of energy-efficient further processing as well as plant and machine engineering up to tool development are developed. You (m/f/x) will represent the field in research as well as in teaching, especially in the degree programs Process Engineering and Natural Materials Technology (diploma), in particular the wood technology part in the courses on wood science, wood technology as well as the wood technology specializations including associated practical courses. In addition, you will actively support the degree programs Wood Science and Technology (Master) and Teacher’s Training for Vocational Schools (State Examination).You will support and shape the integration of paper technology as a specialization option within the field of study of wood technology and fiber materials technology. Your participation in the academic self-administration within the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering is a prerequisite.\n\n\nYou are able to prove solid fundamental knowledge as well as application-oriented research and development experience in the field of wood science, wood technology and wood-based bioeconomy. In addition, you have knowledge in the areas: structure-property relationships, wood modification and lightweight construction potential of wood/wood-based materials and wood-based composites. You have relevant international research experience on the modification of natural properties of wood as a material and of modern composite materials, on new technologies in their application to wood and wood-based materials as well as other composite materials on the basis of innovative cutting, joining and handling processes with the aim of improving processing quality and increasing energy efficiency and resource efficiency. You have experience in the acquisition and implementation of research projects in basic research and application-oriented research as well as in establishing and coordinating regional, national and international research networks. Existing networks such as LignoSaxe.V., ForschungsplattformHolzbearbeitungstechnologiee.V. and InteressengemeinschaftLeichtbaue.V. will be supported by you with commitment. You are qualified to cover the above-mentioned areas in German and English and ideally apply your didactic and pedagogical knowledge and skills in digital teaching as well.
