We are looking for a candidate willing to expand and deepen his/her scientific expertise, already proven by a theological, canonical or legal dissertation, within the framework of their own project through independent research in the field of canon law and/or (state) law on religion. The topic of such a research project is preferably in the area of foundations of religious legal systems, ecclesiastical organisational law, property law or state law on religion. The willingness to do a habilitation is expressly encouraged.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">At the Institute for Canon Law and Law on Religion, research uses jurisprudential and canonistic methods. At the interface between jurisprudence and theology, canon law reflects on all questions of legally ordered governance of the world's largest institutionalised religious community on the horizon of justice. Balancing individual freedom and corporate religious practice requires a critical penetration of canon law. As a cross-sectional subject, the legal subject of law on religion encompasses questions of individual freedom of religion and belief as well as the entire spectrum of legally relevant references to the phenomenon of religion/belief.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The Institute, consisting of 1 professorship, 1 post-doctoral (50%), 1 pre-doctoral and 1 administrative colleague, offers you the opportunity to research and teach in an internationally networked team while developing your own academic profile.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Your future tasks:</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of canon law and/or (state/international) law on religion.</li>\n<li>You are working on your research project (habilitation) and its completion.</li>\n<li>You will support the chair holder in the conception and implementation of teaching.</li>\n<li>You will independently teach in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement and supervise students.</li>\n<li>You will collaborate in the conception, creation and implementation of publications / academic articles.</li>\n<li>You will be involved in the organisation of meetings, conferences and symposia.</li>\n<li>You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>This is part of your personalit</strong>y:</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">A completed doctoral degree in Catholic theology or law with a focus of interest or research in the above-mentioned areas is expected. Former residents of the city include Mozart and Beethoven, while the works of Austrian artists Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt are on display in the city’s museums. </p><p>Its stunning architecture, baroque palaces, and the famous Vienna State Opera make the city a popular tourist destination.
