Based within the School of Ocean and Earth Science (SOES) of the University of Southampton and located at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (NOCS), the role will focus on the collection and analysis of observational and experimental data from the sub-polar North Atlantic within the IDAPro (‘Integrating Drivers of Atlantic Productivity’) consortium as a component of the NERC funded ‘BioCarbon’ programme (<a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://bio-carbon.ac.uk/about\" rel=\"no-follow\">https://bio-carbon.ac.uk/about</a>).</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Applicants should have a PhD* or equivalent in biological oceanography / marine biogeochemistry (or a related field). You would be expected to participate in the project’s two dedicated research cruises to the Iceland Basin of the North Atlantic in 2024, subsequently analysing and disseminating key aspects of the research project related to phytoplankton ecophysiology. Knowledge or experience of at sea experimental work, phytoplankton/microbial ecology/physiology and/or trace metal clean sampling would be advantageous.
