Pathology is a core discipline in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine curriculum and includes all species. The position located at Camden has a focus in <strong>Equine, Livestock, Wildlife and Exotics</strong>, that complement the small animal and pre-clinical teaching across both campuses. The discipline of Veterinary Pathology operates NATA accredited diagnostic laboratories at both campuses with a team of 6 diagnostic pathologists, 3 anatomical pathology residents and a high quality technical team across the diagnostic disciplines including haematology, serum biochemistry, microbiology, histopathology and molecular diagnostics. The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital is one of the core teaching and research facilities in the Sydney School of Veterinary Science a globally ranked veterinary school. Supported access to high quality teaching platforms such as digital microscopy, as well as multiheaded microscopy and good quality student microscopes, makes experiential learning in microscopic disciplines easy to facilitate.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The academic environment is different from commercial specialty practice with the academic mission of teaching and research being central to operations. Regular attendance at the Sydney campus will be required.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The UVTHC provides a range of large and small animal veterinary services to the community and referring veterinarians. As a teaching facility it provides clinical instruction to final year veterinary students and offers a number of postgraduate residency training programs.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the faculty's teaching and research initiatives in the area of farm animal anatomical pathology and provide high quality diagnostic support for farm and companion animal anatomical pathology.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Your key responsibilities will be to:</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>oversee and further develop the UVTHC pathology clinical and teaching services</li>\n<li>co-ordinate veterinary pathology teaching and training to final year undergraduate students engaged in small group UVTHC rotations, and participate in further expansion of a residency training program across the pathology services of both campuses</li>\n<li>liaise and support selected diagnostic work with external veterinarians (food safety)</li>\n<li>maintain reputation for academic excellence</li>\n<li>maintain a research profile which meets University expectation and standard and enhance the reputation of the School, including, success in competitive research grants and other research income generation, publications in peer-reviewed international journals</li>\n<li>ensure outstanding teaching and learning outcome</li>\n<li>coordinate and develop curricula and program within the School</li>\n<li>coordinate and engage in high-quality teaching and learning experience which meet the University's expectations and standards for education.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Since the founding of veterinary science in 1910, the mission of the Sydney School of Veterinary Science (SSVS) has been to provide the nation's best training in the health, welfare, and conservation of animals. The School is internationally accredited with the American Veterinary Medical Association, Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council and Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK) by reciprocal agreement.
