{"job":{"jobId":2498153,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":494,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Simulation Technician","description":"\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Job Description</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">We are really pleased to offer this excellent opportunity to join our team in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care as Simulation Technician for Simulation and Interactive Learning Centre. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Simulation and Interactive Learning (SaIL) at King’s College London is an entity within Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative care that operates and maintain dedicated and technology enhanced facilities spread across different locations at King’s. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Clinical education and learning are pivotal in developing and maintaining competencies in health care, by design, SaIL spaces incorporates all the elements required for technology enhanced, innovative education with a strong but not exclusive emphasis on clinical learning and simulation, serving all health faculties for healthcare simulation at King’s. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Reporting to Senior Simulation Technician, working as part of the technical team, the role will provide support to academics in preparing and maintaining classrooms and clinical environment for the delivery of simulation-based education. You will also be responsible in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining specialised equipment and technology available at the centres.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The role requires to provide cross-site technical cover and shift work variably between 8am-4pm or 11am-7pm, moving and handling of heavy equipment, and occasionally provide weekend support. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This post will be offered on an indefinite contract - full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Key responsibilities</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Work as part of a team or independently to prepare learning and clinical environment as per educational requirement as specified by academics. </li>\n<li>Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain simulators, biomedical equipment, and specialised AV technology. </li>\n<li>Undertake periodic assessment, cleaning and repair of equipment, reporting faults and assist with troubleshooting as required. </li>\n<li>Ensure end to end support for educational sessions, which includes but not limited to ensuring room setup, testing of equipment before the start of sessions in a timely manner. Being available to support academic during the session. Clearing the room and storing equipment appropriately after the session ends. </li>\n<li>Organize and manage consumable storage rooms, coordinate with senior sim tech for placing order for supplies where appropriate. </li>\n<li>Support clinical educators & students with orientation of the centre and equipment by providing relevant health and safety information. Report any incident and accidents accordingly as per university guidelines.</li>\n<li>Ensure equipment are sign-out & sign-in before and after each educational session.</li>\n<li>Undertake moving and handling of heavy equipment following proper guidelines as per requirement.</li>\n<li>Travel between different campuses to ensure technical support during simulation-based activities.</li>\n<li>Appropriate storing of equipment and simulators.</li>\n<li>Communicate with students, faculty, and fellow colleagues to resolve problems and conflicts. </li>\n<li>Engage in appropriate professional activities or attend training to keep knowledgebase and skills up-to-date and to develop them further. </li>\n<li>Resolve problems that are predictable but do not occur very frequently – applying knowledge and skills to find solutions to problems and occasionally apply expertise to resolve longer term, complex problems and to generate innovative ideas. </li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Skills, knowledge, and experience</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Essential criteria</strong></p>\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Minimum level 3 qualification (e.g. A levels, AS levels, International Baccalaureate diploma or other level 3 qualification).</li>\n<li>Experience working in a simulation centre or similar role.</li>\n<li>Knowledge and experience of troubleshooting technology.</li>\n<li>Strong planning, prioritizing & organisational skills, able to work on several tasks simultaneously under deadline. </li>\n<li>Understands how to arrange information in an efficient, effective way and keep systematic records. </li>\n<li>Demonstrate analytical skills in troubleshooting technology and complex problems. </li>\n<li>Ability to learn and apply learnt techniques/skills to the work context.</li>\n<li>Good communication skills, interpreting customer requests and applying knowledge of specialist clinical skills equipment to offer solutions.</li>\n<li>Understand and demonstrate good customer service skills with ability to work with different range of customer groups. </li>\n<li>Ability to identify health and safety issues. </li>\n<li>Ability to work as part of a cross functional team and individually to meet objectives. </li>\n<li>Willingness to undertake cross-site work with early starts (7am) or late finishes (7pm) regularly as required and the occasional weekend work (paid over-time).</li>\n<li>Demonstrates a commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity for staff and students </li>\n</ol>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Desirable criteria</strong></p>\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>A broad range of technical or practical skills and a well-developed working knowledge of technical practices and procedures using a range of clinical training equipment and human patient simulators</li>\n<li>Experience of operating audio-visual systems e.g. SMOTs ™or similar audio-visual observation and training system.</li>\n<li>Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation for the field of work, particularly in use of sharp tools and clinical waste disposal </li>\n</ol>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><em>Candidates are strongly encouraged to specifically address the essential criteria outlined in the Person Specification in their covering letter.</em> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Further information</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">We are committed to continually improving the diversity of our workforce, and therefore we encourage applications from all groups.
