The successful applicant will lead preparation of a UKERC-funded Energy Security and Net Zero briefing focused on UK Industrial Strategy and Low Carbon Supply Chains (4.5 months); and develop a place-based case study of low carbon supply chains in the northeast of England (6 months) supported by a Norwegian Research Council-funded project on <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://www.sum.uio.no/english/include/\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">inclusive decarbonisation (INCLUDE)</a>. Preparation of the briefing and development of the regional case study will be supervised by Professor Gavin Bridge who leads part of UKERC's Theme 1 research on the <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://ukerc.ac.uk/project/geopolitical-economy-system-transformation/\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">Geopolitical Economy of Energy System Transformation</a> and is a partner in INCLUDE. The briefing will integrate learning from existing UKERC projects and build effective research links with non-UKERC research partners; contextualise current material and supply chain concerns around energy transition, focusing on critical minerals and with reference to the UK's research and policy landscape; and identify where and how selected critical mineral supply chains intersect with UK national and regional economies. The case study will contribute to international comparative understanding and further the goals of the INCLUDE project on inclusive decarbonisation. The successful applicant will be based at Durham.
