The role contributes to the University’s academic skills provision to support the strategic aims of the University’s Access and Participation Plan (2024-2028) which seeks to improve the access, success and progression of students from underrepresented groups and disadvantaged backgrounds.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>The role</strong><strong> </strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The postholder will contribute to the Learn with US Transition programme, which facilitates the access of students from underrepresented backgrounds into Higher Education, simultaneously fostering students’ smooth transition to a new style of learning and promoting their continued academic success and progression. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Working with schools and colleges across the UK, virtually and in person, the Academic Skills Officer (Pre-entry) will develop and deliver interactive, engaging and age-appropriate lectures, seminars and workshops designed to develop students’ academic skills. The role will include, but is not limited to, supporting students undertaking the Extended Project Qualification. Whilst this role will primarily have a pre-entry focus, the University’s academic skills provision spans the entire student lifecycle, so the postholder will also contribute to a range of learning opportunities to support this. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>About you</strong> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">You will have good educational knowledge, perhaps gained through experience of working in schools or universities. In addition, you will have excellent communication skills, adaptable to a range of audiences. The Learn with US Transition programme is established amongst a range of Further Education institutions so you will be adept at building and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders such as teachers and students. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">WPSM is proactive in fostering a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
