You will ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards while maximizing research opportunities.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Collaborating closely with the Funding and External Projects teams in the Research, Innovation, and Enterprise office, you will have the opportunity to handle the entire research contracts process, from negotiation to finalization with external sponsors, partners, and collaborators.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Additionally, you will offer guidance and support to academics and researchers to achieve the university's research aspirations.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Responsibilities will include:</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Lead and manage the end-to-end process of research contracts, from initial proposal through to contract finalisation, in accordance with the university’s policies and procedures.</li>\n<li>Manage a portfolio of research contracts and provide support to researchers and academics in the negotiation and administration of research agreements.</li>\n<li>Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including RIE colleagues, Procurement, Finance, IS and University Governance teams, and academics to ensure that contract terms and conditions meet institutional and sponsor requirements</li>\n<li>Maintain consistency and reduce institutional risk in drafting, negotiating and accepting contracts.</li>\n<li>In liaison with the Business Engagement team, advise researchers on intellectual property (IP) rights and commercialization opportunities associated with their research.</li>\n<li>Stay up-to-date with changes in sponsor and funding agency policies and regulations, and ensure that institutional practices comply with these requirements.</li>\n<li>Develop and deliver training and development to staff and researchers on contract and grant management best practices.</li>\n<li>Create contractual frameworks and a policy environment to meet institutional requirements and underpin our research culture.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>What we’ll need from you</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Sound knowledge of contract law within the UK and EU context</li>\n<li>Extensive experience in contract management, preferably in a Higher Education or research institution</li>\n<li>Recent relevant experience of large-scale (>£500K) contract management</li>\n<li>Strong understanding and working knowledge of intellectual property rights and commercialisation in the context of research contracts</li>\n<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with confidence in communicating at all levels across the university and externally</li>\n<li>Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and stakeholders</li>\n<li>Excellent analytical, organisational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">To learn more about this role, please click <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://staff.napier.ac.uk/services/hr/recruitmentandselection/Job_description_repository/jobdescriptions/JD%20-%20RIEO/Role%20Description_ContractsManager_V1.pdf\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">here</a>.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Additional information</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Salary: £44,263 - £56,021 per annum (Grade 6)</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Application closing date:</strong> Sunday 26 November @ 11:59 pm</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Interviews:</strong> 8 Dec </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Interviews will be held via Microsoft Teams.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong><em>Edinburgh Napier is committed to creating an environment where everyone feels proud, confident, challenged and supported and are holders of Disability Confident, Carer Positive and Stonewall Diversity Champion status.
