The successful candidate for this role will work in the research groups of Dr Faith Matcham, Professor Anthea Tinker and Professor Wei Liu. \n\n\nJointly funded by EPSRC and NIHR, this £1.5m ‘DELONELINESS’ project aims to design a smart monitoring and communication system with multifunctional electronics built into textiles used as wearables and home furniture to measure loneliness levels in older people. Refining methods of identifying loneliness in those who are isolated will allow timely and effective intervention. This project is led by King’s College London in collaboration with University of Sussex and University of Leeds.  \n\n\nThe post-holder will be responsible for coordinating research activities to test the acceptability and suitability of the technology to meet the needs of people with loneliness. Tasks may include: conducting systematic reviews of the literature; applying for ethical approval for research activities; supporting recruitment across the project activities; liaising with established Patient and Public Involvement groups; running feasibility experiments; supporting data analysis where appropriate; dissemination of findings to key stake-holders. \n\n\nThis post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a maximum of 12 months or until the return of the substantive postholder.
