By extensively partnering with the profession, we have developed an authentic, relevant, and student-centred approach to clinical veterinary education.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Integral to this model are the Lecturers in Veterinary Clinical Practice (LVCPs), our team of clinical tutors who provide oversight of individual development and evaluation of final year students toward attainment of day-one competences and support practice-based trained clinical mentors in the delivery of our Intramural Rotation (IMR) module. This is achieved through regular and frequent practice visits to meet with clinical mentors and through the provision of one-to-one feedback and coaching of students. As well as overseeing the successful development of the students’ portfolio, the LVCP team also play a key role in the assessment of final year students, and act to remediate where necessary. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">We have an opening for a part time (0.6FTE) fixed term LVCP post with a small animal bias however additional experience working in farm, equine or mixed practice would be beneficial as members of the small animal team do provide cross species cover when required. The successful appointee will be a UK registered (or eligible to register) veterinary surgeon and will be an experienced small animal or mixed practitioner.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The LVCPs act as key university liaisons for the partner practices and will be expected to develop strong working relationships with practice staff. They provide pedagogical training of clinical mentors and contribute to the quality assurance of IMR delivery. The LVCPs are also personal tutors for students in 4<sup>th</sup> and 5<sup>th</sup> year of the curriculum, providing an important role in pastoral care of the students as they transition through the clinical years.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Due to the nature of the role and the geographical locale of our partner practices, this post would ideally suit someone based around London and the Thames valley. There would be a requirement to come to Guildford to teach and for a period of induction. There will be a requirement for significant travel to practices to support students. This role supports flexible working and includes a generous pension and holiday allowance.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Candidates will have a flair for communicating with both undergraduates and practitioners, be excellent team players and have a passion for veterinary clinical education. Prior academic experience is not a prerequisite, but some teaching or clinical coaching experience is beneficial. To achieve this, we have established the following guiding principle for all new staff members who are on a local/Guildford contract, effective for all new starters.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Four-Day On-Campus Commitment: All new staff, whether full-time or part-time, are expected to be physically present on campus for a minimum of four days each week during their initial four to six months of employment. The duration will vary depending on individual with minimum duration being 4 months and maximum duration being 6 months. This requirement is adjusted on a pro-rata basis for part-time staff members.
