Successful candidates are expected to work full-time.\n\n\nThe doctoral researcher position is part of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health funded CHILD SOCNET research project at the University of Helsinki. CHILD SOCNET -project aims to provide an overall understanding of the operation of social networks in child welfare and related fields. The project consists of three work packages, where social network data will be collected from the child welfare clients, workers, teams, and organisations that present 3–4 well-being services counties in Finland.\n\n\nThe doctoral researcher will be a member of four-person CHILD SOCNET research team and consortium (Universities of Helsinki and Lapland). Together with the team, the doctoral researcher will carry out the project from ethical reviewing and applying research permits further to data collection, analysis, writing and publishing. The doctoral researcher will be responsible for one of the work packages. The specific content of the doctoral researcher’s work package will be discussed among the team and agreed on at the later phase.\n\n\nThe duties also include teaching and other tasks. Teaching tasks can account for up to 5 % of the annual working time.\n\n\nQUALIFICATIONS AND SELECTION CRITERIA\n\n\nApplicants should hold a Master’s degree in a field that is relevant to the research topic (e.g. social work, social policy, sociology).\n\n\nThe applicant should have a good command of quantitative research methods and statistical software such as SPSS or R. The applicant benefits from previous experience of working with social network analysis and visualisation software.\n\n\nFluency in Finnish and English language is required.
