The Centre is a cross-faculty initiative between the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) and the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy (SSPP), bringing together a unique mix of disciplines and stakeholders – including community organisations and those with lived experience of ill-health – to conduct innovative social science research on the impact of social change on mental health. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Under the direction of the Centre Manager and Centre Co-directors, you will be responsible for supporting the successful development and delivery of research programmes and linked sub-projects awarded to Centre staff, providing financial and operations support in line with funder policies and College processes. This will include overseeing post-award management including programme and project budgets, supporting with grant applications for Centre staff and contributing to communications and engagement with all Centre staff to facilitate reporting to meet the delivery of the Centre’s objectives and promote a positive research culture in-line with the Centre’s Code of Conduct and wider College initiatives. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The role will suit a motivated and organised individual with a high-level knowledge of funder policies (especially UKRI) and university procedures in relation to research grant administration. You will demonstrate an ability to clearly articulate policies and processes and build strong working relationships with professional service and research staff within the Centre as well as the wider Schools and Faculty PS research support teams and the College’s Research Management and Innovation Directorate (RMID). </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This post will be a fixed term post offered until 31st December 2024 which can also be offered as secondment. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">This is a full-time post</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Key responsibilities</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Work directly with programme leads to support the delivery of research programmes within the Centre. </li>\n<li>Contribute to the management of research programme budgets and sub-projects to ensure robust administration and that all transactions comply with funder and College funder regulations. </li>\n<li>Maintain detailed administrative and financial records on all Programmes. </li>\n<li>Develop and maintain good understanding of university grant information and finance systems i.e., Unit 4 Business World and Worktribe. </li>\n<li>Provide in-depth support with funding applications for Centre research staff, providing advice and guidance on internal procedures e.g. overhead recovery policy and pre-award timelines, and resourcing in line with funder requirements. </li>\n<li>Process financial paperwork including invoices and expenses and support with setting up new suppliers and processing casual worker payments. </li>\n<li>Signposting on financial policies and processes around procurement, VAT, licensing. </li>\n<li>Promote research funding opportunities via the Centre’s networks including the early carer researcher network. </li>\n<li>Work with the Capacity building lead to support the Centre’s Early Career Network (~60 members). </li>\n<li>Establish supportive and effective working relationships with Centre staff and stakeholders including peer researchers, lived experience advisors and community partners. </li>\n<li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional services staff across the College including School research support staff, RMID and HR. </li>\n<li>Actively promote a positive research culture in-line with the Centre code of conduct and wider university initiatives. </li>\n<li>Work autonomously to provide timely support and creatively to solve problems related to administrative and financial tasks. </li>\n<li>Produce and analyse financial information and ensure robust record keeping to support with funder reporting requirements. </li>\n<li>Contribute to planning and organising meetings, seminars and flagship events hosted by the Centre. </li>\n<li>Contribute to maintaining strong internal and external communications and public engagement, promoting the Centre’s profile, including via the Centre’s public facing website. </li>\n<li>Undertake at least one safety role (e.g. fire marshal, First Aider, DSE assessor, safety representative) </li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><em>The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.</em> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Skills, knowledge, and experience </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Essential criteria</strong> </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">1. Significant knowledge and skills of research support acquired through relevant posts, evidencing continuous professional development and the acquisition of appropriate professional or specialist knowledge. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">2. Good understanding of research management policies including cost recovery </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">3. Working knowledge of financial and HR software e.g. PeopleXD, Unit 4 Business World, Worktribe or other university equivalents </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">4. Working knowledge of the end-to-end grant lifecycle and experience of supporting large scale and complex grants using grant management software. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">5. Working knowledge and experience applying regulatory policies and procedures in a large organisation. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">6. Highly numerical with demonstrable experience of budget management and grant costings. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">7. Highly proficient IT skills (including Excel and Word) and experience of using digital technology in day-to-day work. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">8. Strong administrative, organisational and time management skills. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to relay often complex specialist information to various groups. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">10. Effective at working independently, and as part of a team, and able to take a proactive approach to complex problem solving. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">11. Excellent task management skills and an ability to prioritise a varied and demanding workload. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">12. Diligent approach with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Desirable criteria</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">1. Keen interest in research grant management and an awareness of the wider research landscape including challenges within the sector. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">2.
