The Clinical Research Officer will be responsible for supporting Yolngu staff in the delivery and evaluation of the service.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The position will be based in Galiwin’ku, Elcho Island, and will work closely with Miwatj staff based on Elcho Island, and in Nhulunbuy.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Your responsibilities will include:</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Work with the local Aboriginal (Yolngu) team members and project participants to ensure timely delivery of project activities.</li>\n<li>Monitor day-to-day implementation of activities and ensure that the project is being undertaken ethically and to a high standard, with due consideration of the cultural context.</li>\n<li>Plan daily activities with the local team, monitor activities to ensure completion in the specified period, assist with data entry, provide ‘on the job training’ for the local team as needed, upload data to RedCap.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Who We Are Looking For</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">To be successful in this role you will have a demonstrated ability to work successfully in a cross-cultural setting including supervising and training local staff. You will be a critical thinker and can provide support for the development and implementation of translational research in a field setting. You will be a keen problem-solver who can work independently as well as in teams to utilise conceptual and innovative problem-solving skills for managing conflicting priorities. You must be able to reside at the trial site for most of the project from Feb 2024.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">You will also have:</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in a related field.</li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters.</li>\n<li>Demonstrate high level of computing skills including competency with word processing (Microsoft Suite), spreadsheets, data management systems (REDCap).</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">For further information regarding responsibilities and requirements, please refer to the attached PD.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><em>This position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check to ensure the University provides a safe environment for everyone.</em></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.</strong> This role requires current valid work rights for Australia.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Your New Team – The Department of Infectious Diseases</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The Department of Infectious Diseases is a recently established department of the Melbourne Medical School, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences that is based at The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity (Doherty Institute). Research within the department encompasses infectious diseases and public health including antimicrobial resistance and healthcare associated infections, malaria, HIV, tuberculosis, influenza, viral hepatitis, emerging pathogens, and Indigenous Health. Our researchers come from diverse backgrounds, including discovery research and basic scientists, clinician researchers, epidemiologists, public health physicians and microbiologists.
