The proposal consists of three topics: (A) Analysis on the Riemann zeta function, (B) multiplicative analysis, and (C) Fourier interpolation and quasicrystals. Parts (B) and (C) represent emerging fields of analysis and are interconnected via their link to part (A).</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The core team of Fourmula consists of Professors Eugenia Malinnikova and Kristian Seip and Associate Professors Andriy Bondarenko, Sigrid Grepstad, and Karl-Mikael Perfekt. Professor Seip is the Principal Investigator of the project.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Duties of the position</strong></p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">It is expected that the PhD candidate of Fourmula contributes to at least one of the three main goals of Fourmula which are</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>To develop analytic techniques and viewpoints that are of specific interest to the Riemann zeta function and other L-functions.</li>\n<li>To develop the theory of Hardy spaces of Dirichlet series and specifically study composition operators acting on such spaces and spectral resolution of Mellin type operators.</li>\n<li>To develop the general theory of Fourier interpolation and quasicrystals.</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><strong>Required selection criteria</strong></p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You must have a professionally relevant background in mathematics.</li>\n<li>Your education must correspond to a five-year Norwegian degree program, where 120 credits are obtained at master's level.</li>\n<li>You must have a strong academic background from your previous studies and an average grade from the master's degree program, or equivalent education, which is equal to B or better compared with NTNU's grading scale. If you do not have letter grades from previous studies, you must have an equally good academic basis. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The period of employment is 3 years with no teaching, but the Department may offer a 4th year with teaching and other duties for approximately 25% of the entire 4-year period.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Appointment to a PhD position requires that you are admitted to the PhD programme in mathematics (<a data-mz=\"\" href=\"http://www.ntnu.edu/ie/research/phd\" rel=\"no-follow\">http://www.ntnu.edu/ie/research/phd</a>) within three months of employment, and that you participate in an organized PhD programme during the employment period.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://lovdata.no/dokument/NL/lov/2017-06-16-67\" rel=\"no-follow\">State Employees and Civil Servants</a>, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology.
