It may be noted that English is the working language and the primary medium of instruction at UM.\n\n\nThe Department of Arts and Design in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites qualified artists from around the world for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in the field of western fine arts (including but not limited to oil painting, tempera painting, print and sculpture). The newly formed Department of Arts and Design at the University of Macau consists of a team of prestigious art historians and practicing artists and hence emphasizes on both artistic research and artistic creation. In line with Macao’s special position in the world, the department encourages faculty members to engage in active artistic and academic pursuits that cut across the boundaries between the traditional and the contemporary, between China and the world.\n\n\nQualifications\n\n\nApplicants should have: 1. an international reputation for her/his artistic creation in Western fine arts; 2. terminal degree in Fine Arts or related areas; 3. a good record of exhibitions and experience in teaching and supervising master and doctoral students. Preference will be given to those with theoretical, critical, and interdisciplinary academic research capacity. Proficiency in English is required, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage.\n\n\nThe selected candidate is expected to assume duty as early as June 2024.\n\n\nRemuneration\n\n\nA taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,210,300 (approx. USD149,420) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,019,200 (approx. USD125,830) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
