The post-holder will work as part of a team on REFUEL-MS, which is a 5.5-year programme of research jointly funded by the MS Society and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Programme Grant.
\n\n\n
REFUEL MS aims to develop, optimise and implement in the NHS a blended digital self-management treatment for MS-related fatigue.
\n\n\n
We are just over a year into the programme, which has largely been spent on collecting qualitative data to guide in the development of the digital intervention, as well as design of the treatment itself. For this, we have pulled together evidence-based exercise and behavioural interventions into an individually tailored physiotherapist/occupational therapist supported digital fatigue treatment. We have asked for ideas and input from health care professionals (HCPs) and people living with MS (pwMS), who review the intervention and provide feedback. We have also conducted a series of qualitative studies with HCPs, pwMS, as well as formal and informal carers. A core focus of this work has been to reach seldom heard and underserved groups as it is very important that our intervention meets the diversity of needs of those living with MS. Amongst other things, we have focused on community outreach and work with diversity collaborators to understand how to make the treatment culturally appropriate so that it can reach people from minoritised ethnic groups and we are particularly interested in those passionate about diversifying research. You can learn a bit more about our programme and team at www.refuel-ms.com or via our social media (@refuelms on Instagram and @refuel_ms on X.)
\n\n\n
The post holder will join a vibrant team of researchers including a programme manager, two research associates and another research assistant.
