{"job":{"jobId":2510565,"fk_accountId":null,"fk_organizationId":483,"fk_adminAccountId":null,"title":"Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (Chua Thian Poh Community Leadership Centre)","description":"\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><b>Job Description</b>\nThe <a data-mz=\"\" href=\"https://ctpclc.nus.edu.sg/\" rel=\"no-follow\" target=\"_blank\">Chua Thian Poh Community Leadership Centre (CTPCLC)</a> in NUS aims to nurture Singapore’s next generation of community leaders who are both passionate about and intellectually engaged with social issues and community challenges in Singapore.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">The Centre invites applications for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer. This is a full-time position that is offered as a 2-year contract in the first instance, and is renewable subsequently, subject to good performance.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Current NUS colleagues who wish to be considered for a joint appointment with CTPCLC are welcome to submit an application but are requested to indicate clearly they wish to be considered solely for joint appointment.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><b>Roles and Responsibilities</b>\nCTPCLC is an education-focused Centre, where teaching is the primary mission. The successful applicant is expected to engage in:</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Teaching and Practicum Supervision\n\t<ul>\n<li>teaching at least 2 academic courses per academic year, that address community development and/or leadership issues (some of these courses may have class enrolment of up to 100 students), </li>\n<li>supervising at least 1 or 2 small groups of students per academic year (average of 2-5 students per group) for their Community Development Practicum (on which students engage in field research on community/social issues in Singapore, typically in partnership with a community organisation).</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Service\n\t<ul>\n<li>being part of the academic team and playing a role in curriculum development, ethics review, and other academic-related activities,</li>\n<li>advising and mentoring students on co-curricular activities (e.g. student interest groups, and/or community initiatives),</li>\n<li>managing existing and developing new partnerships with community organisations in Singapore, for the purpose of providing students with learning opportunities (e.g. practicums, internships, employment), and</li>\n<li>supporting the Centre's key events and activities (e.g. preparing students for presentations for the Centre’s annual symposium, offering talks during NUS Open House to promote the Centre’s programmes, etc)</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Research and Professional Development\n\t<ul>\n<li>All academic staff members are expected to keep themselves informed in advances in relevant disciplines and in good pedagogical practice through engagement in some amount of scholarly activities like conferences and some publications</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\"><b>Qualifications</b>\nCandidates for the appointment of Lecturer and above should possess a PhD degree in a relevant discipline from reputable universities. Relevant disciplines include but are not limited to Anthropology, Business, Education, Gerontology, Media, Psychology, Social Work and Policy, Sociology, and Health-related disciplines. We are also open to candidates who will be obtaining their PhD in the next 6 months or who have definite plans to do their PhD in the near future.</p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Candidates should preferably be trained in social science research methods (e.g. qualitative, quantitative methods), or in action/ community-based participatory research techniques, and/or community-centred fieldwork, and/or design thinking. Knowledge of or training in programme/process evaluation and impact assessment methods (e.g. SROI) will be a plus. We welcome, in particular, candidates with experience working with or conducting research in community settings and/or on vulnerable populations.</li>\n<li>Candidates should be comfortable working within an interdisciplinary setting, where teaching, practice and research should reflect an approach to scholarship that is inclusive and non-parochial.</li>\n<li>Candidates with at least 2-3 years of tertiary teaching experience are preferred.</li>\n<li>Passion for community development and enthusiasm for supervising, advising and mentoring undergraduate students are essential.</li>\n<li>Candidates must display a commitment to continuous self-development and scholarship. </li>\n</ul>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
