Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, you will serve as a key architect in steering the University's engagement and commercial development agenda, playing a central role in the Vice-Chancellor's Executive Group.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">In this dynamic role, you will lead Aston University's \"omni-channel\" commercial delivery model, driving marketing, student recruitment, commercial training, online education, strategic partnerships, and international development. Your focus will be on quality, innovation, and growth, contributing to the realization of the Birmingham Innovation Quarter and UK Investment Zone strategy.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">With a proven track record in leading commercial development portfolios in large, complex organisations, you will have experience operating at an executive level and be a visionary leader, able to shape the University's commercial strategy, ensuring continuous enhancement of income-generating portfolios. To underpin this ambition, you will have an in-depth understanding of the higher education sector and commercialisation opportunities.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">As a key member of the Vice-Chancellor's Executive, you will contribute to the University's overall strategic direction and provide strategic leadership for the University Engagement and Commercial Development portfolio. In overseeing various key departments, you will foster a culture of commercial acumen, innovation, and excellence, aligning with Aston's values and behaviours. </p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">Through inspiring and credible leadership of a diverse and high-performing team, you will oversee business development, alumni relations, marketing, communications, and international development. Collaborating with the Vice-Chancellor's Executive, you'll foster a culture of commercial acumen, innovation, and excellence, delivered with effective interpersonal and influencing skills.</p>\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: san-serif;\">You will bring a demonstrable ability to drive innovation, manage organisational change, and deliver commercial impact, presenting proven success in building relationships with key influencers and stakeholders. By 1895 it had become the Birmingham Municipal Technical School. Several other name changes ensued until Aston gained university status in 1966.</p><p> </p><p>The university is made up of five schools: Engineering and Applied Science, Life and Health Sciences, Languages and Social Sciences, the Aston Medical School and the Aston Business School. It has a total student body of over 11,000 students, comprising around 9,000 undergraduates and more than 2,000 postgraduates.</p><p> </p><p>Aston’s Business School was founded in 1947 and is one of the oldest and largest in the UK. It holds triple accreditation, which is a classification given to only 73 business schools worldwide by the three leading business school accreditation associations.</p><p>The university campus is spread across 60 acres of land in the Gosta Green area of Birmingham and comes complete with a swimming pool, sports centres, a library, cafés, restaurants, pubs, and shops, hairdressers, health centres and lots of green space.</p><p> </p><p>The library is spread over four floors and holds more than 250,000 books and 800 periodicals with room for around 700 reading spaces.
