ABOUT XJTLU

In 2006, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was founded by a partnership between the University of Liverpool, UK, and Xi’an Jiaotong University, China. Offering a unique international education experi-ence, XJTLU brings together excellent research practice and expertise from both institutions and gives stu-dents the skills and knowledge they need to secure careers in a global marketplace. ABOUT ACADEMY OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

The Academy of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology (AoAIAT) at XJTLU is a future-focused, academically excellent, and innovative academic unit. Strategically reconfigured from the former School of Advanced Technology (SAT) and the School of AI and Advanced Computing (AIAC), AoAIAT integrates elite resources across artificial intelligence, computer science, and electronic and communications engineering to forge an ecosystem where education, research, and industry seamlessly converge.

Offering a comprehensive talent cultivation pathway across undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, the Academy's robust portfolio of 11 undergraduate programmes and 12 master's programmes coalesces around three core pillars: AI Core (Applied AI, Algorithms & Data Science), Infrastructure (Computer Systems, Software Engineering), and Frontier Engineering (Communications, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics).

In parallel, through strategic cross-campus mobility and lab-sharing, we embed advanced technical fluency and AI literacy across our students. Through project-driven learning and immersive, industry-connected scenarios, we empower students to navigate complex technological shifts with an agile, innovative mindset.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Applicants will have extensive teaching experience, have published high quality papers in their area of expertise, have been successful in obtaining research grants, and have substantial experience in the supervision of research students. The successful candidate, in addition to teaching typically two modules/courses per year (i.e. one per semester), will provide leadership in curriculum development and enhancing our research profile at the international level. They are expected to assume administrative responsibilities based on their experience.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES

• A PhD or a PgCert HE or equivalent;
• Ideally few years of teaching/research experience at a university or equivalent after completion of PhD degree;
• PhD supervision capacity;
• Strong publications record in an area of expertise;
• Evidence of success in obtaining research grants;
• Fluency in English.

Successful applicants to more senior professorial ranks are expected to also show:

• A significant record of high-quality academic publications,
• A number of external research grants awards,
• Experience in PhD supervision.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience

• Professional memberships such as BCS, IET, ACM, IEEE and HEA;
• Strong knowledge / experience in international higher education

RESEARCH FUNDING SUPPORT

The university provides every new faculty member with Research Development Fund to encourage them to initiate research projects.

The university will also support all faculty members to apply for national, province and city level programs. These programs aim to support excellent scientists, both Chinese and non-Chinese-citizen, to work and carry out research in China.
