The Faculty of Molecular Chemistry and Engineering is seeking a Professor with expertise in the field of biorelated chemistry, with the aim of advancing the interdisciplinary field at the intersection of “life sciences” and “polymer chemistry.” The successful candidate will conduct a broad range of research, from basic science to practical applications, on the engineering applications of biopolymers, including their use in drug discovery.

KIT has adopted a system that allows Principal Investigators (PIs) to charge a portion of their personnel expenses to the direct costs of competitive research funding, in accordance with their research effort. Under this system, PIs (Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators) may, upon request, charge their personnel expenses to the direct costs of competitive research funds in proportion to the effort devoted to research activities. The funds thereby made available may be used at the PI's discretion, including as a salary supplement. The total amount that may be paid in a single fiscal year, however, is limited to 60% of the PI's annual salary. Work experience

This application should be activity engaged in the undergraduate and graduate education.
This application should have sufficient experience and a proven track record in teaching organic chemistry and polymer synthetic chemistry.
The ability to utilize biomolecules such as proteins and peptides as polymeric materials, and to advance research from basic to applied levels on drug discovery platforms for biopharmaceuticals, as well as on the engineering applications of biopolymers.
