Job description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The need to create innovative materials capable of addressing future challenges is growing ever more urgent in order to further develop the strengths of Japan’s materials industry. Since the fundamental properties of polymers are based on their repeating structures, designing the main-chain backbone is the most effective approach to developing innovative polymeric materials. In order to create innovative new polymer materials, innovation in polymerization reactions is needed in the field of polymer chemistry, which draws on cutting-edge concepts in organic synthesis. The Faculty of Molecular Chemistry and Engineering is seeking a Professor who will lead research aimed at addressing these challenges through innovative approaches to polymer chemistry and polymerization reactions.

- KIT has adopted a system that allows Principal Investigators (PIs) to charge a portion of their personnel expenses to the direct costs of competitive research funding, in accordance with their research effort. Under this system, PIs (Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators) may, upon request, charge their personnel expenses to the direct costs of competitive research funds in proportion to the effort devoted to research activities. The funds thereby made available may be used at the PI's discretion, including as a salary supplement. The total amount that may be paid in a single fiscal year, however, is limited to 60% of the PI's annual salary.
