Job description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The field of e-textiles is focused on integrating novel electrical and electronic capabilities, such as biometric sensing and interventional actuation, into clothing and other textiles, and is currently gaining rapid global momentum. The development of "digital e-textiles", which integrate these technologies with digital spaces encompassing humans and artificial intelligence (AI), is expected to create a new paradigm of value and human augmentation. Specifically, digital e-textiles could enable, for example, textiles that promote health and longevity and technologies that digitally capture and translate human affect and emotions, thereby contributing to human-centered well-being.
Through this call for applications, we seek an outstanding and highly motivated individual to pioneer and spearhead research in digital e-textiles in Japan and internationally. The ideal candidate will have creativity and passion to advance this emerging field, while actively collaborating with industry to realize the vision of creating new industrial sectors in Japan. The candidate will also be expected to engage proactively in public outreach and communicate research breakthroughs clearly and effectively to the general public in an accessible manner.
